Establishment :

The R&D Centre came into being as the Research & Development Centre of Ajmal Group in Hojai, Assam , with a broad objective "Commercial cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants in the North East Region with particular reference to Assam". The group was very keen to set up a R&D Centre with a laboratory in this NE Region to un-veil the nature's bounty and make the resources for economic benefits of the region. The R & D division is recognized by Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, New Delhi, Govt. of India for its outstanding research works on Medicinal & Aromatic crops.

Activities of R & D Centre :

• Collection, identification and preservation of germplasm of medicinal and aromatic plants native to Assam and N.E. region.
• Development of Agro-technology of medicinal & aromatic plants of commercial importance.
• Making available alternative and off-season crops to farmers of Assam.
• To assist farmers in improving out put through scientific and modern cultivation practices.
• To provide modern testing facilities for agro extracts and essential oils.
• To establish processing technology for value addition and herbal formulation from medicinal and aromatic plants.
• Establishing a nursery of medicinal & aromatic plants as well as other economic plant species for farmers and in-house requirement.
• Publishing books and technical bulletins for farmers especially in the vernacular language.

Contract Farming :

Other than own cultivation of aromatic crops, company is also engaged in contract farming activity of aromatic crops in different parts of the country with 100% buy back agreement.
